City of Samba
In Rio de Janeiro's Gamboa neighborhood, within the historic port area, you'll uncover the enchantment of Carnival in the so-called Samba City Joãosinho Trinta.
Established in 2006, Samba City is a treasure trove of displays, costumes, and floats from the Special Group schools. It provides an opportunity to witness the creative process of assembling the visual and artistic components of the Parades.
One of the most prominent samba schools, Acadêmicos da Grande Rio, keeps its doors open year-round to offer the Carnival Experience. This unique offering encompasses warehouse tours, samba workshops, carnival performances, exhibitions, and seminars. Guided by members of the junior samba school Pimpolhos da Grande Rio, an initiative of the "mother school," these activities promote social inclusion and education through the realms of art, culture, and carnival. The Carnival Experience is designed for families, tourist groups, and corporate events.
There are several bars and restaurants in the surroundings, and it's possible to book the venue for private events.
